Μ/Τ Paxoi Supplies Bunkers in the Baltic Sea |
|
On July 12 MT Paxoi supplied the cable layer vessel MV
Solitaire. The 15-hour operation took place in the international
waters off the shore of Tallinn, without interfering with the cable-
laying process. For Aegean BAS it was the first operation of
such kind and the first supply in the Baltic Sea. The company
would like to thank the crew who did their utmost under harsh
conditions to make the operation a resounding success.
The captain of MV Solitaire sent the following thank you
message to Aegean's vessel.
|
|
Dear Captain,
Hereby my thanks to you and your crew for the professional
services and maneuvering alongside the Solitaire during the
bunker operation of today.
Wishing you happy and safe sailing.
Kind regards,
Master 'Solitaire'

Aegean Participates in ECOWAS Experts Meeting
ECOWAS in Brief
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of
15 countries, founded in 1975. Its mission is to promote economic integration in
"all fields of economic activity, particularly industry, transport, telecommunications,
energy, agriculture, natural resources, commerce, monetary and financial questions,
social and cultural matters ..."
|
|
The ECOWAS Experts Meeting took place
on September 15, 2011 at Coconut Grove
Regency Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
The meeting addressed the needs for
assessment on capacity building of
ECOWAS member states regarding the
implementation of the ISPS code and
maritime security for coastal member
states.
Aegean's Manager in Ghana, Theofilos
Pizanias, participated as a maritime
expert. Some of the topics discussed were the growing problem
|
|
of piracy, the efforts
for the development of an integrated maritime
strategy in partnership with member
states and international actors to align
disparate African maritime laws, as well
as the restrictions on governments' ability
to enforce criminal laws against foreign
ships and the need for effective use
of maritime laws for maritime security,
since they determine what nations may
or may not do and provide mechanisms to
facilitate cooperation.

A Great Sports Team
in the Hearts of Old
and…Young
AEK, one of the biggest Greek athletic teams,
where the founder of Aegean, Dimitris Melissanidis
has served as Chairman, has become
a "universal love" for all Greeks regardless of
age. In New York, young Constantine Georgiopoulos
wears, with great pride, clothes
with the mark of AEK and trumpets his love
for the team, posing in front of his school.

Aegean Bunkering Implements
Fleet Management Software
Aegean Bunkering Services has
announced that it will be implementing
a fleet management software
system across a large portion
of its fleet.
The software will be provided by
Germanischer Lloyd and consist of the GL Ship Manager and GL Fleet Analyzer.
The unit will provide integrated ship/fleet management software for 52 vessels
of Aegean Bunkering fleet.
Aegean Bunkering will install the Technical Management and Procurement
System of the GL Ship Manager suite in company offices as well as onboard its
vessels. The reasoning behind the implementation is to improve the company's
strategic and operational ship management activities.
The modules are reported to enable the company to manage tasks more effectively,
provide increased transparency of all vessel data, and help keep
operations in line with industry requirements such as the International Safety
Management (ISM) Code and Tanker Management and Self Assessment
(TMSA) Program.
